What is JEE?
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is the premier entrance exam for engineering aspirants in India. It is the gateway to prestigious institutions like IITs, NITs, and IIITs.
- Eligibility: Must have passed class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects. Age limit and specific criteria depend on the year of the exam.
- Exam Duration: 3 hours for each paper.
- Mode: Computer-based test (CBT).
- Structure: Conducted in two phases:
- JEE Main: For admission to NITs, IIITs, and other engineering colleges.
- JEE Advanced: For admission to IITs (only top JEE Main qualifiers can appear).
- Syllabus: Based on NCERT curriculum for classes 11 and 12 in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
- Number of Questions: Varies by phase and year. Typically 75 questions for JEE Main (25 each in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics).
- Marking Scheme: Varies each year. Usually includes +4 for every correct answer and -1 for every wrong answer in multiple-choice questions.
- Results: JEE Main results determine eligibility for JEE Advanced. JEE Advanced results are used for IIT admissions.
